The UK Active Travel Awards at Active County Cambridgeshire 2026

Entry criteria

The UK Active Travel Awards celebrate excellence across the active travel sector,
recognising projects, initiatives, teams, and individuals that make walking, cycling, and wheeling a natural choice for everyday journeys.

General requirements for all entries

All entries should:

  • Clearly state the project, initiative or team being submitted

  • Include measurable outcomes, where possible (e.g. uptake, participation, safety improvements, behaviour change, or policy impacts)

  • Demonstrate innovation, creativity, or excellence in delivery

  • Provide context, including background, challenges, and how the approach addressed them

  • Highlight collaboration, community engagement, and inclusivity

  • Be written in plain, accessible English

What the Judges want to see

Judges will assess entries based on four core principles:

  1. Impact – Evidence of measurable outcomes to benefits, including social, environmental, or health impacts

  2. Innovation – Creative approaches, novel solutions, or new methods in design, policy, engagement, or delivery

  3. Quality of delivery – Clear planning, high standards in design or execution, adherence to best practice, and effective project management

  4. Leadership and Collaboration – Effective teamworking, partnerships, stakeholder engagement, and championing of active travel principles

Entries should provide clear evidence against these criteria and demonstrate why the submission stands out in its category.

Supporting Materials

  • Entries may include maps, plans, images, diagrams, videos, testimonials, case studies, or other media

  • Visual materials should clearly support the written submission and highlight key achievements

  • Any quantitative data, charts, or metrics should be clearly referenced and explained
